1st Grade - Section B
Katie McGeehan kmcgeehan@stonecreekschool.org
Education:
- BA from The University of Colorado in Sociology
- Masters in Elementary Education from The University of Northern Colorado
Experience:
I have been teaching second grade for the past three years in Eagle County School District.
Strengths:
Creating a safe and happy environment is very important to me. If students can feel these two things they are much more likely to take chances in their academics. I am warm and friendly with my students, but have high expectations for them. Students will rise to the bar if they know what it is, have the right skills, and know that you are there to support them throughout the journey.
Fostering an open relationship with my parents through frequent communication is also very important to me. I feel that the more parents and myself are on the same page the better it is for the student.
Personal:
I grew up in Telluride, Colorado and feel completely at home in the mountains. I moved to the Vail Valley three years ago to be closer to my then boyfriend, now husband. We love to be outside as much as possible and all of our vacations are usually built around fishing, hiking, camping, hut trips, and just being in nature.
Passion / Interests:
Travel, friends, food, outdoors, and watching children learn
Your Vision for SCCS:
I hope to help continue the amazing work that is going on with the students a Stone Creek Charter School. SCCS is a unique school and I am thrilled to be a part of it’s community.
