Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Stone Creek School. Indeed, our success is dependent upon parent and community involvement. Parents are expected to volunteer six hours per month per family as a minimum requirement. Many parents far exceed this minimum and the entire school community benefits.

There are a number of annual events that need volunteers; the Kentucky Derby, Golf tournament and parent work weekends provide ample opportunity for working parents who may not have the flexibility to volunteer during regular working and school hours. Many of these events raise critical money and accomplish amazing projects that enable our school to meet it's annual operational deficit and to improve the overall school environment.

Parents are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms assisting teachers in a variety of ways. It has been proven that children who see their parents take an active role and interest in their school perform and enjoy school more. Parental help and involvement for enrichment days is also critical for the success of extracurricular days. Parents are allowed and are encouraged to volunteer as substitute teachers. For parents volunteering in the classroom setting, confidentiality regarding students and student records is required at all times.

There are also volunteer opportunities through PTO-run activities and events. These will be communicated on the website and through The Pony Express e-newsletter.

Or please consider how you might assist the Board of Directors. Board Committees are organized by functional roles and play a critical role in the successful operation of the school. Here, the expertise of many parent volunteers is of great benefit to the school.
